They are very beautiful pictures: the
passions have been assuaged by the maturity reached. It was
the artist who knowingly chose to isolate himself from a rhetoric
official character that claimed his rites and observances. His
vocation for solitary work was tangible but unperturbed. Nonetheless,
Lucatello was never far from his time, from Italian and nonItalian
art that caused much more sensation in parallel ambients. So
much that without being completely conscious of it, he got surprisingly
close to other artists, including several famous artists of
his time such as Hartung, Wols, Soulages
