1975 / May 1976: Before the Earthquake |
|
|
It is a very intense period. There are
the heads (that the next page is dedicated to), the Earths,
and the Earths and Ponds; whose painting is brutal and essential,
and where the space is occupied with extreme mathematical precision
despite its outward casualness. Lucatello never forgets his
realist background, quite the opposite; his research of detail
is constant and persevering. In some paintings he indulges into
lyricism and then earth is lived with emotional abandonment
without deluding at all from the precision of the style. It
is almost as if he wants to demonstrate that there is no such
thing as a poetical matter or an unpoetical matter, there is
just the subject matter faced with its relationship with man. |
