Faces painted all in 1976 before the
disastrous earthquake. They portray sadness and anguish, they
are dry, hard and often take on exasperated tones, almost as
if they sensed the imminent tragedy. They often oppose the outlines
of a tree barely traced (the mulberry bush, that from here on
becomes the fixed reference point of Lucatello). The juxtaposition
is obviously deliberate and studied. Therefore the titles that
he gave to his paintings: Dialectic ManNature
or Dimension of Nature were not meant to lead to
obscure misunderstandings but, for him, to a simple and obvious
statement. Naturalism of man and spirituality of nature
an intrinsic union that cannot be renounced, where rationalism
is unexpectedly mixed with mysticism. |
